Who am I and what do I do?
Hey! My name is Dimple, and I’m an Engineering Manager at Fyle, currently based in Bengaluru! 👩🏻💻
Fyle is an AI-powered real-time expense management software that aims at ensuring not a single second is spent managing expenses. 🧾
I began my journey with Fyle in September 2019 as an intern and have since been a part of the Frontend Engineering team.
Throughout my journey, I have contributed to various projects for different platforms, including the Fyle Web application, the Mobile application, and the Gmail Extension.
Communication
Since March 2020, we at Fyle, have been working remotely. To ensure clear and detailed communication, we encourage using public Slack channels.
Please use the corresponding initiative Slack channels for all communication regarding initiatives, including questions, clarifications, or updates.
If you need to discuss anything personal, have a 1x1 conversation, or talk about your career, please use the dedicated private 1x1 channels.
If you need immediate attention, please send a direct message.
For meetings or 1x1s, please have an agenda beforehand. If you need to skip a meeting, please let us know in advance so we can plan accordingly.
Work timings
I usually work from 11 am to 7 pm from Monday to Friday.
I like to avoid meetings after 6 pm unless it's important.
1x1s
1x1s are your time, please make the most of it.
These sessions are an excellent opportunity for you to gather insights. ✅
A few things we will talk about in our every 1x1 are:
Overall well-being
Challenges
Personal stuff
Feedback
Documenting key points with action items and setting an agenda for our discussions will be very helpful. ✍🏻
Every quarter, we will review your reflections, set goals, and discuss your career aspirations. 📈
For me, growth means enhancing our capabilities with every challenge and embracing continuous learning.
Giving and Receiving Feedback
Feedback is a valuable tool for growth and improvement for both of us.
During our weekly meetings, I'll share any feedback I have and expect the same from you.
We will discuss action items based on the feedback and how things can be done differently or improved. 📝
Sometimes, there may be differences in opinion. However, we can have a healthy debate and discuss through examples to eventually get on the same page.
I value your feedback on this journey, as it is through your insights that I can refine and improve.
My Growth Areas
Reschedule weekly 1x1s to avoid missing them due to holidays or unavailability.
Ensure that no one is left waiting uninformed if I cannot join a meeting.
Keep our meetings concise and avoid extending their duration. ⏲️
Improve my time management skills to maintain the right balance between various tasks.
Outside work
It is essential to maintain a balance between work and personal life.
Fitness is important. I enjoy working out, running, and dancing. 💪🏻
I love travelling. Often, you'll find me working remotely from different locations. ✈️
I like exploring things like cycling, trekking, watching movies, reading books, and more.
Conclusion
This guide is a starting point, a foundation for our interactions.
