Day in a life of an Implementation Specialist @Fyle
Hi there, I am Priya Dikshit, an Implementation Specialist at Fyle. My time as an Implementation Executive is nothing short of a roller coster ride with new learnings and adoptions everyday!
But one question that often comes up from my colleagues and friends is, “What exactly is an Implementation specialist?”.
Experiencing these questions quite frequently, I found a way to give a sneak peek into my life and the work as an Implementation Executive at Fyle.
A Cup of Coffee and Emails to Begin my Day
Like many, my day begins with a cup of coffee, but my schedule is a bit different. Working from Indian timezone to North American time zones means my workday starts around 6 PM and extends past midnight. While there are both pros and cons, this unique schedule lets me have the day to myself, spend quality time with family, indulge in hobbies and connect with global customers.
Evening Kickoff: The Work Begins
I begin my workday by creating a to-do list and organising the essentials for the day. With a cup of coffee in hand, I clear my emails and review all Slack notifications, getting myself geared up for a productive start.
The Implementation Specialist at Fyle guides new customers through the onboarding process with the Fyle application. This involves delving into their specific needs, challenges, and expectations, integrating and implementing their account, and ensuring it's fully operational for their use. It requires extensive communication with the customer, deep product understanding, effective time management, and collaboration across teams to set the stage for a successful implementation.
“ Every day is different- some days I’m on client calls all day, and other days I’m dedicated to admin work. ”
~ Kayleigh Carter
In essence, the role of Implementation is all about finding a balance between client requests and meeting deadlines. I love the autonomy that comes with this role. YOU are the project manager of all the onboarding accounts, where one experiences the whole evolving life cycle of an account along with the responsibility and spearheading it’s path. Let's now delve deeper into the implementation phase of the lifecycle…
The IMPLEMENTATION
Essentially, there are 4 key elements that happen at different times & intervals throughout the day/week.
Customer Calls: Throughout the onboarding phase, there is regular interaction between the customer and Implementation Specialist via video conferencing. These calls typically last an hour and are focused on integrating systems with Fyle, offering technical and software support, and addressing customer needs. Each call is structured with an agenda, contributing to a stronger connection between Fyle and Customers.
Implementing: This entails customising the account to fit the customer's specific use case. Integration may involve linking with a third-party application, navigating through the multi-verse of accounting software platforms, or delving into the intricacies of administrative workflows. Each implementation varies in complexity and use case, fostering an environment of growth and continuous learning.
Learning & Optimisation: As the product evolves, an implementation specialist acts as a bridge between customers and product development, requiring continuous knowledge enhancement and sharing within the team to create a network of expertise. I attend product demos, test new features, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure a comprehensive understanding.
Program Management: An Implementation Specialist handles the onboarding and implementation of multiple accounts concurrently, ensuring each aligns with its strategic goals and objectives. This role demands efficient coordination, communication, and resource allocation among diverse teams and stakeholders.
Mindfulness & Collaboration
While my day starts with coffee and slack, it ends with a warm and light conversation with my amazing and wonderful team members. In the world of enhancing client relationship management it is pivotal to balance the stress and prioritise the needful. Mindfulness helps you create a room of calmness while interacting and communicating with your team members helps reduce stress and creates a friendly work environment. I go for evening walks, have great 1x1s with my fantastic manager which increases both work and mental efficiency :)
Lastly, each of the areas are challenging in their own ways and overcoming those brings forth new learnings and adventures everyday! Ultimately, these learnings and challenges ensures that not a single day at work is monotonous or boring. Hope this was fun and informative. See you again!
