Interview Experience: Implementation Services Internship at Fyle
Hello! I'm Aditi, a graduate with a degree in Political Science Honours. I have had an incredible opportunity to join Fyle as an Implementation Services Intern on October 6, 2022. I've been familiar with Fyle as a company for about a year before I took on the role of an intern. The journey from embarking on the interview process to finally securing the internship has been quite the rollercoaster. I had reservations at every step, wondering if I'd be able to adapt to the US business hours. But here I am, ready to share my journey, starting from my interview experience and preparation to my overwhelming excitement about securing an internship at Fyle. It's worth noting that landing an internship at Fyle has been a longstanding aspiration of mine, so I'm thrilled to narrate this experience.
I applied for the Implementation Services Intern position at Fyle through Internshala, a well-known platform for college students, on September 10, 2022. The application process was straightforward, involving just two fundamental questions: why I believe I'm the right fit for the role and my availability for the next three months to complete the internship. After submitting my application, I received a response from Fyle's People Success team within a remarkable two days. The team promptly shared an Implementation Internship assignment as the next phase of the interview process. This assignment allows them to assess my capabilities and plan the subsequent steps. It's noteworthy that the deadline for assignment submission was set at a maximum of 24 to 48 hours, after which the status of my application would be withdrawn.
The Implementation Internship assignment requires responses to three specific questions. I'd like to share an overview of both the questions and the answers I provided for the assignment, with the aim of progressing to the next stage, which is the interview process.
First question: Name 3 products/services that have the best chat support according to you. Mention two or more reasons why they are on your list. - Experience was the linchpin for crafting effective responses to these questions. To elaborate on how experience plays a pivotal role in formulating such responses, I should emphasize that practical knowledge derived from personal encounters has been invaluable in shaping my ability to answer these questions. In today's digital age, we rely heavily on various marketplace shopping and food delivery apps to procure goods and culinary delights, all from the comfort of our homes. Our peace of mind is contingent upon the timely arrival of our orders, and if anything goes awry, we turn to the customer support teams for assistance. In reference to the initial question, I outlined the top three products renowned for delivering exceptional chat support experiences.
Second question: Describe an issue/problem that you had resolved by working with others as a team. According to your observations, what could have been better in that circumstance when you look back at it? - In response to the second question, I shared my previous internship experience, which included an incident where I faced a challenge with a customer. I elaborated on how, as a team, we successfully resolved the issue. Additionally, I highlighted potential improvements in our teamwork that could have led to a quicker resolution and better customer satisfaction.
Third question: List 3 skills that you think are important to succeed in the role of an Intern - Implementation (Remote). Describe how each skill helps on the job. - In my perspective, the top three skills essential for excelling in an Intern - Implementation role are patience, strong communication abilities, and unwavering dedication. I firmly believe that patience is a pivotal quality that garners the highest level of customer appreciation, while dedication fuels our commitment to working long hours during night shifts.
Upon sending my assignment and resume to the specified email address, I eagerly awaited a positive and productive response from them regarding the subsequent stages of the process.
After I submitted my assignment, I received an email from a member of the recruitment team who informed me that they would be contacting me to discuss the interview process. In their message, they also shared various links, including team blogs, Fyle's website, and the career page, with the aim of helping me gain a deeper insight into Fyle's corporate culture. During our subsequent phone conversation, this team member provided me with an overview of Fyle as a company and inquired about the information I had gathered to familiarize myself with the organization. Furthermore, they detailed the interview process, which comprises three rounds. I was informed that successfully completing the third round would qualify me for the internship opportunity.
The initial interview round took place on September 28, 2022, with the Manager of the Customer Success team. It commenced with me providing a comprehensive introduction, followed by a discussion of my previous internship experiences. The majority of the questions centered around my second internship, its job description, and an exploration of what an implementation specialist role entails. Although the interview had been scheduled for 45 minutes, it concluded in just 30 minutes. I eagerly awaited a positive response from the recruitment team regarding my qualifications for the second interview round.
The following morning, I received a call from the recruitment team, notifying me that I had successfully advanced to the second round of interviews. What made it even more gratifying was that I received valuable feedback from the team regarding my performance in the first round, which served as a useful resource for better preparation in anticipation of the second round.
The second interview round was set for September 29, 2022, with the hiring manager of the Implementation team. During the conversation, I focused on my most recent internship, which led to a direct question about why I didn't choose to join the company full-time after spending 9 months as an intern. The interview also included situational questions related to handling customer-centric challenges and inquiring about the essential skills required to excel in this role. Despite a 45-minute schedule, the interview wrapped up in just 30 minutes. Following the interview, the hiring manager mentioned that he would provide feedback to the recruitment team, who would subsequently contact me.
The next morning began with a call from the recruitment team, informing me that I had advanced to the final interview round.
The last interview round with the Director of Customer Success was held on September 30, 2022, and lasted for precisely one hour as scheduled. During this interview, I provided a comprehensive overview of my past internships, shared my knowledge about Fyle as a product, and delved into the specifics of the Implementation role. The Director graciously discussed Fyle's product and patiently addressed all my queries pertaining to my prospective role. However, I couldn't help but feel a bit apprehensive when the interview concluded because I hadn't activated my video, while his video had been on throughout the conversation.
Anticipating the outcome of the final round, I received a call from a member of the recruitment team later that same evening. They informed me that the upcoming two days were part of the weekend and that the team needed this time for internal deliberations. They assured me that they would provide me with a prompt response, whether I would be selected for the internship or not. What was particularly reassuring was their commitment to keeping me informed, even if I did not secure the position, rather than leaving me in the dark.
On the auspicious day of Maha Saptami, which happened to be on October 2, 2022, as I was preparing to go to the Durga Puja pandal, I received an unexpected phone call from the recruitment team bearing incredible news that I had been chosen for the internship. My happiness was beyond measure, and for a moment, I was completely taken aback. It was like a dream come true, and to commemorate this significant moment, I treated myself to my all-time favorite delicacy - cotton candy. Coming from a Bengali background, sweetness is the beginning of everything :)
