3-Months Internship Experience: Implementation Services at Fyle
Introduction
Hello! I'm Aditi, an Implementation Services Executive at Fyle. I began my journey with Fyle on October 6, 2022, as an intern and transitioned to a full-time role on January 6, 2023. My experience so far can be described in one word: 'Wonderful'.
I'd like to share a glimpse of my three-month internship with the implementation services team, showcasing the fantastic team dynamics and the thoughtfully crafted onboarding process that made me feel like an integral part of the team.
First Month
On my first day in the first month, the day began at 11:30 AM with an onboarding session led by the People Success team. This productive session focused on the company's culture, policies, and the seamless way Fyle operates. Following this, I was asked to create an introduction video about myself to be shared with the entire Fyle team as a warm welcome. Although I felt excited, nervous, and camera-shy, I managed to put together a video.
Midday, I had a 1-on-1 introductory session with my manager and buddy at Fyle. This interactive session provided insights into my role, the team members, and the work we do as an implementation team. My buddy also shared a detailed worksheet outlining a 30-day onboarding plan to help me get started with the product and gain hands-on experience in implementing accounts. The worksheet included daily tasks and duties, along with a space to document my learnings each week.
In the middle of the first month, I had the privilege of meeting with the founders of Fyle. They warmly welcomed and encouraged us as the newest members of the Fyle team. During this session, they also shared insights that helped us appreciate and embrace the wonderful culture that unites everyone at Fyle.
A key component of my comprehensive 30-day onboarding plan involved shadowing customer calls to gain insights into customer needs and ensure seamless account implementations. Each day, I focused on preparing for product demos, culminating in a weekly final demo to the entire team. One of the most enjoyable aspects was interacting with my buddy and wonderful team members, who were incredibly supportive and always available to help clarify any product-related questions I had.
As I covered the 4-week plan demos, I gained a deeper understanding of the Fyle product. Learning and absorbing the product was crucial for seamlessly implementing accounts. By the end of my first month at Fyle, I was incredibly excited and eager to begin the second month, where I would take on the responsibility and ownership to manage accounts single-handedly and independently.
Second Month
As I began my second month at Fyle, my buddy assigned me the task of handling my first customer call, scheduled for 2 AM IST. I was both excited and nervous, but I accepted the task with a smile. I took them through the implementation process and clarified product related queries, and by the end, the call was successful. This wouldn't have been possible without the support of my two team members, who assisted me whenever additional information or explanation was needed.
After this call, I began managing accounts independently. While working on my accounts, my buddy would oversee my progress, offering guidance and support. It was an exciting learning experience, and I was thrilled to join my first official customer call, where I was introduced as an Implementation Executive (IE).
During my second month of the internship, I focused on managing accounts, assisting team members, and shadowing numerous calls to enhance my understanding and learn how to handle various scenarios during calls. I also deepened my knowledge of the Fyle product by asking more questions and exploring its features.
Third Month
After successfully completing my second month at Fyle, I embarked on my third and final month of the internship, which would determine my transition to a full-time member of the team. During that month, a new intern joined the team, and my buddy asked me to share my internship experiences and learnings with her to help her feel comfortable, as we would be co-interning together.
As time went on, I began taking on accounts, and the new intern started shadowing my customer calls. Previously, I handled these calls independently, only asking my buddy to join if I needed assistance. With her joining the team, all team members had to include her in their customer calls. Despite this fact, I didn’t feel nervous and added her to my calls as well.
The Christmas holidays arrived, and we all went into vacation mode at the end of December. In the back of my mind, I was thinking about my internship ending on January 6, 2023. However, neither my manager nor my buddy had discussed the transition to a full-time position with me.
I was in a constant state of uncertainty about whether I would secure a full-time role. Since everyone on the team was so kind, I wasn’t mentally prepared to leave them.
Finally the most awaited moment
On January 3rd, 2023, my manager asked me to join a quick call. I felt nervous but also secretly excited, hoping he would say, "Aditi, you are selected for the full-time role." He shared the Google Meet link, and I joined the call. We exchanged greetings and had some basic conversation. Then he said, "Aditi, I wanted to let you know that unfortunately, you have been converted to a full-time member." For a moment, I wasn't sure whether to be happy or sad. I thought, “Well, Aditi, it might be time to start searching for internships on Internshala again” :P
Then I realized I had indeed been converted, and my manager was just playing a prank. I was overjoyed and on cloud nine that my dream internship had finally turned into a full-time role for me.
